Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits Woody and Buzz Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 years since the original Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing audiences to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the plot but keeping viewers wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
The preview shows the young girl — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting giveaway items find good homes.
Surely, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the insignia attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is still the key figure among the toys.
