In the dying moments, sheer ecstasy broke out for Chelsea and interim manager Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández forced home a dramatic equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola ranting in frustration and gifted the stand-in Chelsea manager a unforgettable moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane was the Premier League's greatest managerial mismatch, making the memory of Fernández's crucial intervention one to cherish the 40-year-old throughout his career.

A Glaring Contrast in Pedigree

On the home bench stood the most decorated manager of his time, a man with four decades of silverware for football's giants Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, overseeing his 1,012th match. In the opposite technical area, stood a former coach at lower-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had served in City's own academy and arrived to make his senior managerial bow after being temporarily promoted from his regular role guiding Chelsea's youth teams.

Factoring in a slew of absences, most notably Chelsea's key midfielder Moisés Caicedo (suspended) and goalkeeper Robert Sánchez (injured), McFarlane's task began as a mission that seemed Mission: Impossible.
