Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from his teammate by one point after his victory in Mexico City a fortnight back, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before the sprint shootout set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, trailing 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his team opted for a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he spun at the fourth corner early in the session.
The Japanese spun out over the track edges before spinning across the escape zone, and was fortunate to get away with just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the very end of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending corner before the final corner on to the pit straight.
Hamilton ended the session in P19, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, over half a second slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
